Netgear Orbi RBK853 Review – Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6 Mesh System Review UK 2026 — Worth It?

Netgear Orbi established the premium mesh Wi-Fi category and the RBK853 represents their current Wi-Fi 6 flagship 3-pack. For large homes with many connected devices and demanding users — 4K streaming, gaming, video calls, smart home infrastructure — it remains one of the strongest options available.

The defining feature is the dedicated 4x4 160MHz backhaul band. While other tri-band systems share their backhaul with client connections under high load, Orbi's backhaul is entirely separate at the hardware level. This means the inter-node bandwidth is consistently high regardless of how many devices are connected — the satellites receive full throughput from the router and distribute it to clients without the bandwidth halving that affects many dual-band mesh systems.

AX6000 Wi-Fi 6 means up to 600Mbps on 2.4GHz and 1200Mbps on 5GHz to client devices simultaneously, with 802.11ax improvements to multi-device efficiency that benefit dense connected environments — houses with dozens of IoT devices alongside phones, laptops and streaming devices.

The 2.5G WAN port is a forward-looking addition. As multi-gig broadband (2.5Gbps, 5Gbps) becomes more widely available in the UK, the Orbi RBK853 won't become the bottleneck.
